Summer 2026 Data Detectives Intern

Internship Education & Research Walnut Creek, CA (In-Person)

Job Description

Data Detectives is an educational company on the ground floor, teaching a variety of subjects to our local Walnut Creek community using data-driven, personalized methods. This internship is fundamentally a mentorship opportunity. You will work side-by-side with the founder to build an educational company from the ground up — from our first classes and client relationships to our website, learning framework, and operational policies. This is rare: you'll see and shape every part of the business, not just one siloed task. You will have tremendous autonomy and a powerful local LLM at your side to assist across all duties. While AI familiarity is essential, you don't need to be an expert — we will actively guide you in becoming AI-native, exploring frontier paradigms, and stretching beyond your comfort zone. Responsibilities: • Source marketing opportunities and reach out to prospective clients • Build and maintain our website — develop features, fix bugs, improve the experience • Develop the framework for classes, assignments, and learning metrics • Establish and document our policies and procedures • Analyze customer funnels and other key business metrics • Contribute to copy, design, and content across all company touchpoints What You Will Gain: • One-on-one mentorship across the full business lifecycle — software, analytics, sales, marketing, operations, and education • Real-world experience that you won't learn in a classroom • Autonomy to solve problems independently and learn by doing • Hands-on work with AI tools and frontier development paradigms • A meaningful chance to serve our local community through education Duration: 12-week internship starting June 1, 2026 Compensation: $25-$28 an hour, depending on experience

Requirements

• Strong communication skills and disciplined work habits • At least 1 year of coding experience, Python preferred • Web development experience is a plus • Eagerness to learn new skills independently • Strong, self-directed problem-solving abilities • Basic familiarity with AI tools (we'll develop this further) • A genuine interest in education and community impact
